Advanced Material Development -

Advanced Material Development (AMD) has been signed up by US industrial and aerospace giant Honeywell International to help develop new moulded materials.

Honeywell, a Fortune 100 multinational with annual revenue of US$37bn, and AMD have signed a letter of intent to “develop materials-based solutions for non-destructive testing of moulded materials that may have been subjected to high impact damage”.

AMD, which owns intellectual property in the fields of nanomaterials, detection and life sciences based on research partnerships with the universities of Sussex, Surrey and Texas, said the work with Honeywell's performance materials division is expected to lead to an ongoing funded programme of work.

“This is a fantastic development for the company and illustrates the high level of engagement we are receiving in the US from both government and commercial partners, who are keen to work with us to develop new solutions for key challenges,” said AMD chief executive John Lee.

“We are delighted to have developed this collaborative relationship and look forward to working with key Honeywell personnel.”

This follows a recent contract extension with the US Army Research Lab on its nanomaterials-based electromagnetic camouflage technology and after AMD was picked by major UK and US defence contractor QinetiQ to join its work on the UK Weapons Sector Research Framework.
