Oxford Biomedica clinches CAR-T cell therapies collaboration with PhoreMost

The programme aims to develop next-generation cell therapies with improved efficacy and durability

Oxford Biomedica PLC (LON:OXB) has announced a discovery collaboration with PhoreMost to develop next-generation CAR-T cell therapies.

CAR-T uses T-cells from the patient’s own immune system to tackle the disease. Simply put, they are genetically engineered and “supercharged” to hunt down and destroy cancer cells.

PhoreMost, which is a UK-based biopharmaceutical company dedicated to difficult to treat disease targets, will deploy its in-house expertise and next-generation phenotypic screening platform, SITESEEKER, to identify therapeutic candidates for Oxford Biomedica's LentiVector gene therapy delivery system.

The programme will initially focus on CAR-T therapy and aims to develop next-generation cell therapies with improved efficacy and durability.

The firm did not disclose the financial details of the agreement.

“We see this news as a small positive, supportive of OXB’s ongoing development of its capabilities, but we do not expect to change our forecasts on the back of this news,” analysts at house broker Peel Hunt commented.
