Induction Healthcare inks collaboration deal with healthcare tech firm Cerner

Under the deal, the two healthcare technology firms will develop a joint patient engagement solution for NHS trusts, while clients of Cerner will also have access to Induction's patient portal for hospitals

Induction Healthcare Group PLC (LON:INHC) said it has signed a strategic collaboration deal with global healthcare technology firm Cerner Corporation (NASDAQ:CERN) to develop a joint patient engagement solution for NHS trusts to deliver “easier, quicker and more efficient service for patients”.

The company said the collaboration will closely align existing patient facing technology in the UK and Ireland, building on the benefits of Cerner’s patient portal solution Healthelife and the integration capability of Zesty, Induction’s patient portal for hospitals, with Cerner’s electronic health record (EHR) Cerner Millennium.

Cerner’s EHR is utilised by more than 144,000 health and care professionals across 24 NHS Trusts to manage 1.5mln patients every month. Meanwhile, its Health Information Exchange (HIE) shares more than 19mln health records, and its population health intelligence platform, HealtheIntent, is contracted to help clients proactively manage and improve the health of more than 9.5mln individuals.

As part of the value-added reseller agreement, NHS Trusts that are already Cerner clients will have access to Zesty’s patient portal under their existing contractual arrangements, with Induction adding that the deal has the potential to generate “material revenues” in the year ending March 31, 2022, and in keeping with its strategic focus.

"It is a landmark moment for Zesty to be selected by Cerner in the UK and Ireland to jointly develop patient engagement solutions for NHS hospitals. Together, our organisations can provide staff and patients with world-class digital tools to manage their care and operate more efficiently in the current environment of rapidly changing and unfamiliar conditions”, Induction joint chief executive James Balmain said in a statement.

“The prospect of a patient-facing platform that represents the best of Zesty and the best of Cerner will be game-changing for both existing and new Cerner customers", he added.
