Archer Materials Ltd (ASX:AXE) (OTCMKTS:ARRXF) is encouraged by progress with patent applications for its deep tech IP, which is at the core of the ‘knowledge economy’ where output in the form of patents is a prerequisite to successful technology commercialisation.
The company’s patent applications relate to its 12CQ quantum computing qubit processor chip and graphene-based biosensor materials technology.
Archer’s international patent applications (IPAs) associated with the 12CQ chip have been lodged in seven jurisdictions while its biosensor patent application is filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
De-risking technology commercialisation

12CQ quantum computing qubit processor
IPAs related to the 12CQ quantum computing qubit processor chip have been lodged in seven countries.
These were selected due to the size of the economies, potential addressable markets and prevalence of key and substantial semiconductor chip manufacturing industries.
The IPAs are progressing in various stages of National Phase jurisdictions and all have been published online with the most recent publication being the US application on September 24, 2020.
Publication of the IPAs is a key step in the process for the grant of a patent.
Graphene-based biosensor technology
Archer has filed the patent application for graphene-based biosensor technology under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) and is progressing in the International Phase in the patent granting procedure.
An International Phase is the first of the two main phases for a patent application with the National Phase the second.
The company has taken steps to accelerate the prosecution of IPAs for the chip and PCT application for the biosensor.
It also filed a PACE request with the European Patent Office.
