Moho Resources begins maiden diamond drilling at East Sampson Dam

The company plans to drill seven diamond holes to provide essential information for the maiden gold mineral resource estimate.

Moho Resources Ltd (ASX:MOH) has started diamond drilling at East Sampson Dam (ESD) gold prospect within the Silver Swan North Project in Western Australia’s Goldfields.

The company plans to drill seven diamond holes for around 650 metres to obtain high-quality core for structural information, geological data, moisture, density and material for further metallurgical test-work.

Information for first resource

Moho managing director Shane Sadleir said: “Moho is excited to be undertaking its maiden diamond drilling program at East Sampson Dam.

“The program is designed to provide essential information for our first mineral resource estimate at the prospect.”

Diamond drilling

West Core Drilling has started to drill the seven oriented holes into saprolitic clays in the oxide zone and deeper transitional material.

The diamond drill program has been designed to obtain:

  • High-quality drill core for metallurgical test work;
  • To understand the structures controlling the mineralisation to model it more accurately during resource studies;
  • Quality geotechnical information on which Whittle Pit modelling will be based;
  • Accurate densities and moisture measurements to aid resource modelling; and
  • Quality core to study the geology closely and therefore refine the ESD geological model.

Drill-hole imaging

Along with detailed data collection on the core, the company also plans to use the services of Wireline Services Group (WSG) to collect drill-hole imaging and rock property data.

The company will collect Optical and Acoustic televiewer data for structure, magnetic susceptibility and rock density measurements which will feed into the ESD resource model being prepared by CSA Global.

Next steps

The company has chalked up plans to complete several activities in the fourth quarter of 2020 that include:

  • Compiling diamond drilling holes assays, structural and other data for resource modelling;
  • Undertaking additional resource definition reverse circulation drilling of up to 40 holes; and
  • Compiling surface geochemical sampling data across the Silver Swan North Project area.

Besides this, it will also undertake aircore drilling over geochemical and structural targets in the first quarter of 2021.
