Base Resources appoints Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy president as non-executive director

Janine Herzig replaces Sam Willis who is retiring after thirteen years service

Base Resources Limited (LON:BSE) (ASX:BSE) said it has appointed Janine Herzig as an independent non-executive director, effective from October 12, 2020.

Herzig replaces Sam Willis who will retire at the company's AGM on November 20, 2020, after thirteen years service, the mineral sands miner added.

Herzig is a metallurgical engineer by training, Base noted, and has worked on mineral sands projects and others at Mount Isa Mines, Western Mining Corporation, Consolidated Rutile, RGC and Iluka Resources.

Herzig is president and chair of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) mining professional body.

“With the changes announced today we continue the important process of Board succession and progression at Base Resources,” Keith Spence, the miner's non-executive chair said in a statement.

"With her extensive experience in the resources sector, particularly in mineral sands, she [Herzig] will be a valuable addition to the Board," he added.

Spence also noted that Willis has played an important role in the journey of Base Resources, having first been appointed at its inception and ‘helping to guide it through every significant milestone, including the acquisition, construction and operation of Kwale Operations, the acquisition of the Toliara Project and determination of our maiden dividend’.

As part of the succession process independent non-executive Diane Radley will assume the role of chair of the group's Audit Committee, Spence said.
