National Grid PLC (LON:NG.) has appointed Paula Reynolds as its new chair to succeed Sir Peter Gershon, who is leaving in January.
Reynolds is currently a non-executive director (NED) at US conglomerate General Electric Company and senior independent director of oil giant BP, where she also chairs the remuneration committee.

She is also a NED and chair of the remuneration committee at aerospace company BAE Systems, but she will step down from this role before January.
Reynolds was formerly chair, president and chief executive officer of Safeco Corporation, a Fortune 500 property and casualty insurance company that was acquired by Liberty Mutual Insurance Group in 2008, after several year as an executive in the energy industry.
