AstraZeneca agrees to supply 300mln COVID-19 vaccine doses to EU

The deal includes an option for a further 100 million doses

AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) has agreed to supply the European Commission with at least 300mln doses of the COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed with Oxford University.

The deal, which includes an option for a further 100 million doses, follows preliminary discussions conducted earlier this month.

It is the first contract of this kind signed by the Commission, while the FTSE 100 firm has already agreed to distribute 100mln in the UK and 400mln in Latin American countries.

The formulation is at the final stage of trials on 30,000 people across the US, South Africa, England, Russia and Brazil.
