Fireweed Zinc adds experienced capital markets advisor to board as it advances Yukon project

Chalk has more than 25 years' experience as a capital markets advisor in the global metals and mining industry

Fireweed Zinc Ltd (CVE:FWZ) (OTCMKTS:FWEDF) has appointed capital markets advisor Marcus Chalk to its board of directors as it continues to advance its giant Macmillan Pass zinc project in Yukon.

Chalk has more than 25 years' experience as a capital markets advisor in the global metals and mining industry, the explorer noted.

Before founding GenCap Mining Advisory in May 2020, he led the Vancouver mining investment banking team at Scotiabank for 14 years. Prior to that, he was at Macquarie North America (Toronto and Vancouver) and CIBC Wood Gundy (Toronto, Sydney and Vancouver).

"We extend a warm welcome to Marcus as he joins our already strong Board,” Brandon Macdonald, Fireweed's CEO said in a statement. "His experience with large-scale mining transactions and strong relationships at all levels within the industry will undoubtedly prove valuable as attention increases on our impressive Macmillan Pass project."

Last week, Fireweed revealed it was ramping up exploration work at its flagship 544 square kilometer (sq km) asset.

The company said the first core drill will arrive on-site next week, with a second drill to arrive shortly after. Most drilling will be at Boundary Zone where there will be further testing of the wide, high-grade mineralization hit last year.

New discovery targets will also be drilled, including the 240 Mile Target, while geological mapping, geochemical sampling, and prospecting are underway in the Boundary Zone area and at 240 Mile Target.

Fireweed noted that ground gravity surveying has begun in the Fertile Corridor to the west of previous surveys, including the area around Boundary Zone, while an airborne VTEM-Magnetic geophysical survey over the western Fertile Corridor including the Boundary Zone area is also scheduled to start shortly.
