Pantoro Ltd (ASX:PNR) has lifted the growing gold potential of the Norseman project in Western Australia's Goldfields with the discovery of a new zone of near-surface mineralisation at the nearby Scotia Mining Centre.
The discovery of a new ore zone at Green Lantern, southeast of the existing Scotia pit, expands the Scotia centre, 25 kilometres south of Norseman township.
Drilling has returned several wide, ore-grade intersections in a zone which has not been previously drilled.
Near-surface mineralisation at Green Lantern has been identified over a strike length of around 300 metres with mineralisation remaining open to the north and down-dip.
Additional drilling at Green Lantern is ongoing and designed to test for northerly extensions as well as to infill ore zones to suitable drilling density for mineral resource estimation.
Unexplored since mid-1990s
Managing director Paul Cmrlec said: “Pantoro continues to have great success from drilling at the Scotia Mining Centre, with new discoveries first at Panda to the west and now at Green Lantern to the east, both within six months of commencing work in the area.
“These areas have not been drilled previously and the results highlight the potential for increases to the mineral resource at Scotia which has not been effectively explored since the mid-1990s.
“We are excited about the long-term potential of the area and continue to test additional surface targets while we commence the drill out of depth extensions to the existing high-grade ore bodies.”
Multiple surface lode structures
Drilling indicates multiple surface lode structures are present at Green Lantern, with a wide, lower grade mineralised lode and higher-grade zones typical of other ore bodies known within the mining centre.
Notable intersections at Green Lantern indicate a wide lode system as well as a narrower high-grade system and include:
- 16 metres at 2.61 g/t gold from 52 metres;
- 21 metres at 2.36 g/t from 34 metres;
- 12 metres at 2.03 g/t from 52 metres; and
- 15 metres at 1.88 g/t from 14 metres.
Ongoing infill step-out drilling at the Lady Eleanor mineral resource has also returned excellent results including:
- 4.4 metres at 3.14 g/t gold from 50.5 metres;
- 3 metres at 3.18 g/t from 75 metres;
- 2 metres at 3.12 g/t from 82 metres; and
- 7 metres at 3.31 g/t from 46 metres.
Looking ahead
Pantoro has committed to a large-scale exploration and resource extension program at Scotia Mining Centre and expects drilling to continue in the area for at least the next six to 12 months
Additional drilling is planned at Lady Eleanor to fully define a potential Eastern Lode identified during the current round of drilling, as well as potential southern extensions to the mineral resource.
There is potential for the Eastern Lode at Lady Eleanor to extend to the north and join up with the newly discovered Green Lantern mineralisation.
