Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG), the catering giant, has appointed Ian Meakins, former boss of plumbing products specialist Ferguson, as its new non-executive chairman.
Meakins, who also previously was chief executive of Travelex and Alliance Unichem and on the board at Centrica and O2, will join the board next month and take over as chairman at the start of December when predecessor Paul Walsh steps down.
John Bason, senior independent director, highlighted the new man’s “outstanding record of value creation” and “wealth of experience”.
Walsh added that his successor has “deep experience of B2B and B2C companies and is an outstanding choice to succeed me”.
Compass shares dipped initially but by mid morning were a few pence higher at 1,194.5p.
