Proactive weekly mining highlights: Silver, Anglo Pacific, Greatland Gold ....

The recent surge in the silver price to above US$20 an ounce has pushed the gold-silver ratio back towards a much more sustainable level and away from the record peak of 124 in March this year.

Anglo Pacific Group PLC (LON:APF, TSE:APY), the mining royalties company, said it is expecting a better second-half performance as demand for minerals recovers with the easing of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Landore Resources Ltd (LON:LND) highlighted continuing progress at the BAM gold deposit as it posted its full-year results, and separately revealed plans for a share consolidation.

Vast Resources PLC (LON:VAST) updated investors on its operations at the Baita Plai polymetallic mine in Romania, where it intends to start underground production next week and it expects first concentrate production will take place in August.

Berkeley Energia Limited (LON:BKY) said the Board of the Nuclear Safety Council (NSC) in Spain has indicated its authorisation for the uranium concentrate plant at Salamanca should be extended. The initial authorisation for the uranium concentrate plant as a radioactive facility was granted in September 2015.

Thor Mining PLC (LON:THR) (ASX:THR) said hydrogeological drilling program at the Kapunda ISR (Insitu Recovery) copper project in South Australia, carried out by EnviroCopper Limited was successful.

Petropavlovsk PLC (LON:POG) delivered a 42% increase in gold production during the first half of the year. The company’s mines in Russia produced 320,000 ounces in the six months to June.

W Resources PLC (LON:WRES) said the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown and contractor equipment problems provided challenges for its operations in the second quarter of 2020.

IronRidge Resources Limited (LON:IRR) reported additional high-grade drilling results at the Zaranou gold project in Côte d'Ivoire and the sighting of visible gold observed amid deeper reverse circulation (RC) drilling.

Greatland Gold PLC (LON:GGP) released what it described as outstanding new results from drilling at the Havieron deposit in the Paterson region of Western Australia. Extension drilling in the north-west portion of the property confirmed and unearthed a new zone of higher-grade breccia mineralisation.

Power Metal Resources PLC (LON:POW) has decided to take out an option over the Alamo Gold Project in Arizona. Alamo is a package of mining claims covering an area of approximately 766 acres.

Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) reported an 8.4% fall in copper production in the second quarter of the year as only two-thirds of its workforce were on site due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Anglo Asian Mining PLC (LON:AAZ) and Conroy Gold and Natural Resources PLC (LON:CGNR) have formed a joint venture for the further development of the Longford Down Massif gold project in Ireland, hitherto held and worked solely by Conroy. Anglo Asian is to acquire up to a 55% interest in the project by investing in stages.
