Eve Sleep PLC (LON:EVE), the mattress and sleep wellness company, has definitely turned a corner says CEO Cheryl Calverley. Sales rebounded to £12.2mln in the half-year to June with good sales momentum in May and June continuing into July, said Calverley. Demand for sleep accessories such as pillows and toppers has also been strong, which Calverley suggested might be people spending more on the inside of their houses due to lockdown and holidays being cancelled. Self-help measures such as reducing costs and marketing more effectively had also enabled the company to generate cash even before receipts from the government’s COVID-19 support scheme. The second half has traditionally been busier for the five year old company, but Calverley says it is too early to tell how much of the recent pick up has been coronavirus-related, but she feels that the business is accelerating.
