Dart to propose job cuts as it reduces flying programme

Dart Group PLC (LON:DTG) said it will have to propose job cuts across its business after reducing its flying programmes amid the crisis.

The owner of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays already asked all staff to take a pay cut from April to December as the monthly salary bill remains a “substantial” proportion of overall costs.

The firm is unsure of its outlook for the year to next March as it is unclear how restrictions will continue to be implemented across Europe, but said monthly load factors for the winter are satisfactory summer 2021 bookings are encouraging.

In the year to March 31, revenue jumped 21% to £3.5bn, thanks to growth in passenger numbers, while profit before tax slipped 11% to £147mln after extra charges due to the cancellations of flights at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

Shares were flat at 759.95p on Thursday morning.
