Assura PLC (LON:AGR), the GP surgery owner, said it expects to primary care providers play a crucial role as the UK recovers from the coronavirus crisis.
The FTSE250 group owns 565 properties leased to GPs and healthcare trusts with rents backed the government.
Jonathan Murphy, chief executive, said it had been an active first quarter despite the virus uncertainty.
“Our business model remains resilient and robust, as demonstrated by normal patterns of recent rent collections and all our development sites being active in line with social distancing guidelines,” he said.
Primary care will play a crucial role as the UK seeks to rebuild and recover from the COVID-19 crisis and we are engaging with the Government to ensure that it remains a key area of investment going forward."
In the first quarter, Assura completed seven acquisitions for £35mln while a portfolio of 20 assets was sold for £17mln.
Assura added it is currently on-site with 18 developments at a total cost of £95mln with further developments worth £60mln to be onsite within 12 months.
Gross debt stood at £767mln at end June with undrawn facilities of £300mln.
