A sterlisation technology that could be used to combat the spread of coronavirus has won £2mln of Welsh financial backing.
Creo Medical Group PLC (LON:CREO) said it had secured a loan from the Cardiff Capital Region, which will be used to develop the company’s Cool Plasma technology, which kills bacteria and viruses.
"The Cool Plasma technology was one of Creo's very early projects, which was originally focused on hand sanitisation,” explained the medical devices specialist’s chief technology officer, Professor Chris Hancock.
“I'm delighted that we are able to advance this technology which has a variety of applications. The current pandemic has highlighted the need to focus on technology that can limit the spread of Coronavirus and I am excited that we have support from the Cardiff Capital Region to commercialise our patented technology as part of our COVID-19 response.”
