OptiBiotix Health PLC (LON:OPTI) has signed a distribution deal covering Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, and Thailand for its cholesterol and blood pressure reducing dietary supplements, CholBiome and CholBiome X3.
Leading this latest leg of the international expansion will be Actial Farmaceutica, an Italian business with operations in Asia focused on probiotics and gut health.
“We chose Actial due to a common interest in developing probiotics with strong science and clinical studies and their expertise in commercialising value-added probiotics to major global pharmaceutical markets,” said Mikkel Hvid-Hansen, commercial director of OptiBiotix’s ProBiotix Health operation.
Since launching its CholBiome products containing the company’s LP LDL formulation two years ago, the company has signed around 30 agreements in 50 countries.
Independent clinical studies have shown the LP LDL probiotic, which interacts with the human microbiome in the gut, can reduce cardiovascular biomarkers such as total cholesterol, LDL (bad) cholesterol, and blood pressure by up to 36.7%, 13.9% and 5.1% respectively.
CholBiome and CholBiome X3 will be marketed under the VSL#3 range to hospital clinicians, GPs and pharmacies as probiotic dietary food supplements.
