Horizon Minerals Ltd (ASX:HRZ) has appointed Ashok Parekh to the role of chairman of the board following the resignation of Peter Bilbe, effective from July 1.
Due to other work commitments, Bilbe stepped down as chair of the company, however, will remain an independent non-executive director of Horizon.
Parekh will assume his role, serving alongside Bilbe and managing director Jon Price.
“Invaluable contribution”
Commenting on the transition, Parekh said: “On behalf of the Horizon team, we would like to thank Peter for his invaluable contribution as chair during his three and a half years and look forward to his continued active involvement as the company moves into an exciting growth phase.
“Together our board has extensive corporate and mining industry experience, particularly in the West Australian Goldfields where we are aiming to build Horizon into a new mid-tier gold producer.”
On-track for first gold next month
The company is ahead of schedule with mining and haulage for the first stage of Boorara Gold Mine in the Goldfields and is on track for first gold production next month.
Mining began on May 6, 2020, and the first ore parcel of 25,000 tonnes has been hauled from Regal East to the Lakewood Mill.
Horizon managing director Jon Price said: “The site operations team and our contracting partners have done an excellent job with ore delivery ahead of schedule and grade meeting expectations.”
Both the Regal east and west pits will be mined concurrently to enable efficient cycling of mining production and drill and blast activities, with the mining of the Crown Jewel pit to begin in the September quarter to provide an alternative dig location as the Regal pits advance.
