Greatland Gold PLC (LON:GGP) has described some of the latest drilling results from its Havieron gold prospect in Western Australia as ‘truly spectacular’.
One infill hole hit 109 metres (m) of gold at an average grade of 6.3 grammes per tonne (g/t), which Greatland described as among the best from the project to date.
Partner Newcrest’s latest update also reported an 82m intersection of gold and copper in a new area 220m north-west of the previous drilling.
Newcrest has nine rigs drilling currently at Havieron, said Greatland, with a maiden resource scheduled for the second half of 2020.
The Aussie major plans to drill a further 80,000m at Havieron over the next 12 months.
In a statement, Gervaise Heddle, Greatland’s chief executive said this was the eighth set of excellent data from Havieron and contained some of the best results.
"The crescent zone of high-grade mineralisation has been extended and its continuity once again improved by outstanding infill results. Meanwhile, the extension drilling programme has now commenced and early results are very promising, with step-out drill hole (HAD066) intersecting significant mineralisation 220 metres north-west of previous high-grade results, and mineralisation remaining open to the north-west and at depth," he added.
"These latest results, some of which are truly spectacular, sharpen our collective focus on the near-term objective of a maiden resource at Havieron, and further reinforce the potential to accelerate the timetable for commercial production," Heddle concluded.
