Blue Star Capital PLC (LON:BLU) said it has raised £500,000 via a stock placing at 0.12p a share, a modest discount to Monday’s closing price.
Backing the fundraiser was Paniolo Ventures Inc, a Canadian investment fund, which bought £250,000 of stock and now has 5.55% of Blue Star's enlarged equity base.
Existing investor Nicholas Slater has increased his shareholding to 13.41% from 10.72% after buying shares worth £175,000.
The shares come with warrants attached that allow holders to buy more shares at 0.175p each.
Blue Star is an investment company focused on esports, payments technology and its applications within media and gaming.
It is investing £150,000 each into six e-sports teams around the world and owns a 27.9% stake in micropayments group SatoshiPay.
In n statement, Blue Star hief executive Tony Fabrizi said the latest cash injection would be used to provide working capital and investment funds “to allow us the flexibility to participate in future funding rounds of our portfolio companies during the remainder of the year”.
“We are pleased to have our largest shareholder supporting the raise and to also introduce a new institutional investor to our shareholder base," he added.
