Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has the drill spinning in a new 5,000-metre combined reverse circulation (RC) and aircore program at Gordons Dam Gold Project in the highly prospective Kalgoorlie-Boulder Region of Western Australia.
This program is designed as an immediate follow-up to the strong results returned from drilling in April/May and from several earlier programs completed since the company listed in 2018.
The reconnaissance aircore holes will reduce drill hole spacing to 50 metres along strike and are aimed to generate new priority bedrock targets for immediate RC testing.
Prospectivity “improved considerably”
Yandal Resources’ managing director Lorry Hughes said: “The prospectivity of Gordons Dam has improved considerably since the high-grade results within primary rocks at depth were received in May.
“We plan to define the extent of anomalous primary gold mineralisation with the aircore drilling and then systematically test beneath the best targets with RC over the remainder of 2020.”
23 RC holes planned
The company has planned 23 RC holes to follow-up the recent highly encouraging oxide and primary downhole results.
These included:
- 1-metre at 15.11 g/t within 7 metres at 2.65 g/t from 32 metres;
- 3 metres at 7.59 g/t within 12 metres at 2.59 g/t from 30 metres;
- 3 metres at 18.31 g/t within 8 metres at 7.47 g/t from 34 metres;
- 1-metre at 17.01 g/t within 11 metres at 1.89 g/t from 97 metres; and
- 4 metres at 9.48 g/t from 100 metres.
Aircore holes
There are 64 aircore holes planned to define new priority primary RC targets within an open 700-metre strike zone.
Results are expected in July ahead of diamond drilling to confirm structural interpretation and generate key information such as the identification of any controlling structures to the mineralisation.
Hughes said: “To date, limited RC drilling has successfully intersected primary mineralisation over about 150 metres in strike length and it remains open in all directions.
“Diamond drilling is likely to be the next important step in order to confirm our geological assumptions and to search for evidence of controlling structures to the mineralisation.”
Planned activities
Key exploration activities planned by YRL during the remainder of the June quarter and into the next include:
- Receive and review pending 1-metre results from the Flushing Meadows deposit;
- Receive and review pending 1-metre results from Gordons Dam and Barty aircore drilling;
- Receive and review 4-metre results from the current Gordons Dam aircore and RC drilling; and
- Commence new diamond drilling, geotechnical and hydrogeological studies at the Flushing Meadows gold deposit to support feasibility studies.
