International Consolidated Airlines Group (LON:IAG), the owner of British Airways, is reportedly considering legal action against UK quarantine rules.

Chief executive Willie Walsh told Sky News that he is reviewing the matter with lawyers.

Budget carrier Ryanair Holdings plc (LON:RYA), which on Friday urged the Republic of Ireland to scrap similar measures, said it would support IAG’s endeavour.

British Airways, which is burning £178mln per week, flew only 485 passenger flights in May.

Its chief executive Alex Cruz previously said the mandatory two-week quarantine impositions to UK inbound travellers are “another blow to our industry”.

Shares in IAG jumped 13% to 326.3p, while Ryanair rose 1% to €12.90 on Friday afternoon.
