Debenhams Group, the department store owner, has announced 1,000 more job cuts but will open 90 stores on 15 June.
On Thursday, Debenhams said that the jobs would go at its HQ to slim down the merchandising, buying, and design functions and at sites where services such as cafes won’t reopen due to social distancing rules.
The department store chain added that it had reached agreements with the landlords of 120 sites, of which 90 would open on June 15.
Seventeen of its 142 stores would close, it said, while the future of five more is still in the balance.
The troubled department store went into administration for a second time this year in April.
