DP Poland PLC (LON:DPP) has confirmed a 13% rise in ‘system sales’ and more broadly a 16% increase in revenue during 2019, reflecting a business with some advantage when it comes to the reopening of the Polish economy after the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown.
Some 82% of all delivery sales in 2019 were ordered online, the pizza franchise group added.
“Our customers order their pizzas increasingly on our digital platforms, and pay for their orders on that platform too. In Poland we believe we are best in class on this front," Iwona Olbryś, DP Poland chief executive said in a statement.

The Domino’s Pizza franchisee, meanwhile, noted a reduction in food and labour costs resulting from the coronavirus crisis in the current year.
“The Coronavirus crisis presents our industry - and business in general in Poland and around the world - with some major obstacles. Nevertheless, I believe that the Domino's brand, and its reputation for quality of product and service, puts us in a good position.
“In light of the Coronavirus concerns, we now offer contact-free delivery and contact-free carryout,” Olbryś added.
“While dine-in restaurants in Poland are permitted to reopen this week, we continue to deliver to our customers delicious, hot pizzas, typically within 25 minutes from order. Our focus on delivery/collection and online ordering positions DP Poland well in the current environment,” he concluded.
Olbryś told investors that, at present, the company is unable to provide guidance on its outlook for the current financial year.
Financial results for 2019, meanwhile, saw revenue rise 16% to 69mln Polish zloty (c £14mln). The company said that its earnings (EBITDA) loss improved by 5%, with the company losing £1.8mln in the period versus £1.9mln in 2018. It made a loss of £3.4mln in 2019, compared to £3.8mln in the previous year.
It described the group performance as being in line with management expectations for 2019.
During the year, the company increased its store count to 69 stores from 63 in line with the Domino’s Pizza master franchise agreement. The company also noted ‘positive interaction’ with takeaway.com’s Pyszne.pl website.
DP Poland ended the year to December 31, 2019, with £3.6mln of cash in the bank.
