Eden Research PLC (LON:EDEN), the sustainable biopesticides specialist, has reported further approvals for its Cedroz bionematicide distributed by partner Eastman Chemicals.
Italy has granted Cedroz a second 120-day emergency-use authorisation period ahead of its growing season, while full approval has been granted in the Netherlands.
Cedroz tackles root-knot nematodes, a pest that causes severe damage to crops globally, both in an open field and greenhouse situations. Cedroz’s appeal is that it is residue-free and can be applied right up to harvest.
Full authorisation for Cedroz in Italy continues to be assessed by the relevant authorities, Eden added.
The approval in the Netherlands is the third full authorisation in the European Union alongside Malta and Belgium later the same year though Eden says, unlike Italy, this is not expected to be a key market initially.
Separately, Eden said it has been notified the use of another if its products Mevalone has had approval in Greece expanded to include several minor diseases on olives and tomatoes.
In a statement, Sean Smith, Eden’s chief executive, said: "Following on from the glasshouse approval in Belgium, this approval in the Netherlands is a welcome addition to the growing portfolio of authorisations of Cedroz."

“We anticipate more positive news for Cedroz in 2020 and beyond as a number of additional countries continue to review applications for full authorisation,” he added.
