Vast Resources extremely pleased with initial metallurgical tests on Baita Plai samples

Drilling work is underway and the company expects to report more results in the coming weeks

Vast Resources PLC (LON:VAST) has described itself as “extremely pleased” with initial indications from metallurgical test work being conducted on ore samples taken from the Baita Plai mine in Romania.

The company, in a statement, told investors that initial floatation test results showed concentrate grades of 20%-28% copper with recoveries seen at between 84% and 94%. Test concentrates also included molybdenum, zinc and lead.

It said the results come from ‘Batch 2’ samples sent to the lab in the UK. Samples were taken from underground working areas within the existing Baita Plai mine.

They were taken by hand using hammer and chisels, as the first batch of samples were not deemed to be a fair representation of the project’s expected grade range.

Vast pointed out that the work on Batch 2 confirms historical metallurgical results.

“The company is extremely pleased with the initial indications from the test work on producing the copper concentrate and so far, the grades are greater than originally forecasted,” Vast Resources said in a statement.

“It is expected that the underground drilling currently underway will further confirm the continuation of similar grades at depth. The company looks forward to providing updates on the continuing drilling and assay results over the next 4-6 weeks,” the group added.
