Gfinity to host second ePremier League Invitational tournament

Wolverhampton Wanderers' Diogo Jota won the first event, beating Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold in the final

Gfinity PLC (LON:GFIN) has revealed that is to run a second instalment of the ePremier League Invitational tournament that sees professional players and celebrities represent teams in electronic matches.

Participants will play each other in a knock-out format using EA SPORTS FIFA 20 on a PlayStation 4 console.

Among the players taking part are Phil Foden (Manchester City), Billy Gilmour (Chelsea), James Maddison (Leicester City), John Egan (Sheffield United), Ryan Sessegnon (Tottenham Hotspur) and Callum Wilson (Bournemouth).

Games will be broadcast on SkySports, YouTube and Twitch with the final also to be shown on Sky Sports Premier League, Main Event and worldwide.

Wolverhampton Wanderers' Diogo Jota won the first event, beating Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold in the final.

In a statement, John Clarke, Gfinity’s chief executive said: "We are delighted to have been chosen again by the Premier League to operate the second ePL Invitational tournament, where we will see some of the top players battle it out.

"As with the first invitational, whilst the fees payable to Gfinity are not material to the group as a whole, the programme represents a further endorsement of Gfinity's ability to help our clients find new ways to engage with their audience."
