BHP says business is “resilient” and likely to generate “solid cash flow” in the wake of third quarter production results

Some operations have been shuttered, but others have turned in record performances

BHP Group PLC (LON:BHP) has maintained production guidance for its petroleum iron ore and metallurgical coal operations. Copper guidance is broadly unchanged too for its four main assets, although production at the 33.75%-owned Antamina mine has been temporarily suspended.

During the nine months to March 2020 BHP’s group copper production was broadly unchanged, while the company achieved record iron ore production at its Western Australia assets and record average concentrator throughput at the Escondida copper project in Chile.

The company said its business was “resilient” and expected to continue to generate “solid cash flow.”

Full year unit cost guidance) remains unchanged.

Capital and exploration expenditure budgets for 2021 are under review.
