Synairgen PLC (LON:SNG) shares jumped higher on Tuesday after the company said a trial on coronavirus (COVID-19) patients of SNG001 - the company's wholly-owned inhaled formulation of interferon-beta-1a - has now been labelled as an Urgent Public Health study by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
The respiratory drug discovery and development company revealed on March 31 that the first patient was dosed in the double-blind, placebo-controlled trial at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

Another six trial sites were also expected to start dosing over the following few days, Synairgen had said then.
In a brief statement today, accompanying the results of its general meeting, the group only said that further updates would be made in due course.
The company also announced the passing of all the resolutions at Tuesday’s general meeting held on Tuesday including approval of its conditional placing and share subscription
In early afternoon trading, Synairgen shares were up 36% to 76.50p.
