Published: 13:15 09 Apr 2020 BST

PlanarTECH's Ray Gibbs tells Proactive there's a lot of activity happening including a recent announcement on bullet-proof vests with a Thailand firm as well as what he describes as a serious inquiry from an EU company looking to use the material in its own products.

''Graphene is everywhere in sports now including tennis rackets and fishing rods as well as the more surprising uses in toothpastes and shower gels''.

''You've got everyday products as well as specialist products so lots of good things happening'', he says.

When asked about opportunities around coronavirus and COVID-19 he says: ''There's a lot of activity on making diagnostic testing work quickly, efficiently and accurately .... it will take a little time but the regulatory authorities are all about moving this forward very quickly''.

planarTECH snowed-under with demand for its face masks

planarTECH's Ray Gibbs says sales of its graphene face masks have been very good and they've been 'snowed-under' with orders and commitments for over 150,000 masks. He says they've just sold a significant number to two UK universities and will be delivering the first big batch next Friday.
