Smith & Nephew appoints new chief financial officer

Anne-Francoise Nesmes is currently holding the same role at leisure parks operator Merlin Entertainments

Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN.) has appointed Anne-Francoise Nesmes as its chief financial officer, replacing Graham Baker who is leaving at the end of this month.

The FTSE 100-listed medical technology firm said her base salary will be £580,000 per annum plus bonuses and cash in lieu of pension.

Nesmes is currently holding the same role at Merlin Entertainments, the world's second-largest visitor attraction operator, which was a constituent of the FTSE 250 before being acquired by private equity last November.

She is also a non-executive director of blue-chip catering firm Compass Group.

Before Merlin, Nesmes was chief financial officer at FTSE 250 specialist animal health company Dechra Pharmaceuticals and held senior roles at pharma giant GlaxoSmithKline.

In a separate update, Smith & Nephew also announced the appointment of Bob White as a non-executive director.

White has over 25 years' experience in the sector and is currently president at UK firm Minimally Invasive Therapies Group.

Shares rose 2% to 1,530.5p on Thursday morning.
