NMC Health in talks to avoid administration after bank applies to High Court

The private hospital operator said it was talking to creditors about making “material changes” to its corporate governance and the composition of the board

NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC) is in talks with its creditors after Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCM) applied to the High Court for the appointment of administrators to the private hospital operator.

With a hearing scheduled for 9 April, NMC said it was talking to ADCB and other creditors about making “material changes” to its corporate governance and the composition of the board, in to address their concerns and to have the application withdrawn.

NMC, which last week appointed UAE-based Faisal Belhoul as executive chairman after Mark Tompkins stepped down, said it wanted to avoid the appointment of administrators as “it does not believe would be in the interests of stakeholders as a whole”.

The Abu Dhabi-based hospital operator revealed last month that it was in hock to over 80 financial institutions, with net debt “around US$6.6bn” after discovering more than US$4bn of debt that had not been previously disclosed to the board.
