Wizz Air cuts capacity by a third in March due to travel restrictions

The airline is still operating flights to repatriate passengers and to deliver medical equipment

Wizz Air Holdings PLC (LON:WIZZ) said capacity in March was cut by 34% due to travel restrictions to prevent the coronavirus pandemic.

The airline operated rescue flights from Germany to Ukraine, from Malta and Croatia to North Macedonia as well as from North America to Hungary to repatriate passengers.

It is also operating flights between China and Hungary to deliver medical equipment.

The number of passengers carried dropped by almost one million from the comparable quarter in 2019.

Shares dipped 2% to 2,058p on Thursday morning.
