Tocvan Ventures Corp (CNSX:TOC) has revealed that this year's fieldwork at the Pilar gold-silver project in Sonora, Mexico has begun, ahead of a potential drill program later in 2020.
The aim of the work is to expand the known areas of mineralization; refine structural features that control mineralization; identify new targets and define them for drill testing, the company said in a statement.
The work began on March 21, the company added.

"The results of Phase 1 surveys will be combined with pre-existing data and together help to create a structural mineralization model to identify drill targets for the Phase 2 campaign," Tocvan added. "Drilling is expected in late summer to early fall of 2020, and may be delayed due to continued travel restrictions related to the current global health crisis."
Updating on activity in light of the coronavirus pandemic, the firm said work programs needed adjustment.
"Isolation is an inherent part of mineral development programs. Currently, a geophysics crew is performing work on the Pilar property in Mexico, and a soil-sampling program is also underway," it said.
"The geophysics crew have been working in isolation in remote areas as a group to themselves. The soil-sampling crew are a small group of family members who live together as a group to themselves."
The Pilar Gold-Silver property is a low-sulphidation epithermal project. More than 17,700m of drilling have been completed to date. Significant results from previous operators include 53.47grams per ton (g/t) gold and 53.4g/t silver over 16 metres (m).
Also found during surface and trenching was 28.6g/t of the yellow metal over an intersection of six metres.
Tocvan also told investors that additional areas of mineralization have been identified resulting from surface rock-grab-sample assay results that extend known mineralized trends and show a second NW-SE (north west-south east) trend of mineralization to the east parallel to the trending zone.
Shares surged over 27% to C$0.21 each in Toronto.
