LSE says on track to complete Refinitiv deal despite EU coronavirus caution

LSE shares hit an all-time high of 8,628p last month on the back of final results that included a bumper dividend, but have since slumped 30%

London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE) said its $27bn takeover of data analytics specialist Refinitiv remains on track to be completed by the end of the year.

The US Committee on Foreign Investment US said there were no national security concerns about the deal.

Even though the European Commission issued a statement on Friday encouraging the delay of merger filings because of coronavirus, the LSE said it remained committed to closing the deal during the second half of the year.

The company said it "continues to make progress in relation to the remaining antitrust and regulatory clearances", adding that it was engaging "constructively" with the EC and other regulators.

LSE shares hit an all-time high of 8,628p last month on the back of final results that included a bumper dividend, but have since slumped 30%, including an 11% fall on Monday to 6,036p.
