Private hospitals operator Spire Healthcare Group PLC (LON:SPI) said it has offered its support to the NHS after being asked to help deal with coronavirus.
The exact nature, extent and the timing of this support is yet to be determined, Spire said.
A meeting took place between various private hospital operators and representatives from NHS England to discuss plans for the likely spread of Covid-19 in the country.
Spire, which owns 39 hospitals and eight clinics, generated £285.7mln of revenue from NHS work last year from mostly surgical and outpatient care in its hospitals.
This was up 5% on the previous year, following a decline of 7% the year before.
The company delivered care to approximately 810,000 in-patients and daycase patients in 2019 and is the principal independent provider by volume of knee and hip operations in the UK.
