CMC Markets PLC (LON:CMCX) has seen a significant uptick in trading activity following the recent coronavirus-inspired market volatility.
The spread bet firm said volumes had already been good since the start of 2020, but the recent market slump due to coronavirus fears has heightened trading activity.
As a result, CMC expects to expect to deliver net operating income ahead of market consensus for the year to March 2020.
Peter Cruddas, chief executive, said the business had also retained a ‘higher percentage of client income’ during the second half of the year.
Consensus forecasts for the year to March prior to today’s update were net operating income of £200.6mln and profit before tax of £53.2mln.
