HighGold Mining Inc (CVE:HIGH) (OTCMKTS:HGGOF) told investors on Wednesday that it had kicked off this year's winter drill program at its Ontario, Canada, gold properties.
Elsewhere, the firm is focused on the high-grade Johnson Tract Gold (zinc, copper) project in south-central Alaska.
At the famous Timmins gold camp, where HighGold's assets are located, a particular focus will be on the Munro-Croesus property and its historically mined, high-grade gold mineralization.
Past diamond drilling by a previous owner here in 2011 hit 18.79 grams per ton (g/t) of gold over 4.1 meters in the hanging wall to the mined Croesus vein.
Recent geological work by HighGold indicates there may be an opportunity to identify unmined portions of the historic Croesus vein near the surface.
HighGold also plans to drill test other gold-bearing quartz vein systems as it develops a property-scale exploration model, it said.
Planned in Ontario is 5,000 meters of diamond drilling using two rigs on the Munro-Croesus, Golden Perimeter and Golden Mile properties.
The work is looking for high-grade gold mineralization; areas of surface geochemical and geophysical anomalies; flexures along major regional structural breaks, and potential intrusive-related gold prospects.
