Judges Scientific says coronavirus outbreak won't have a significant impact on trading

It explained the group operated with an average three-month order book, meaning the current travel restrictions would have only a temporary impact, “deferring rather than reducing revenue”

Judges Scientific PLC (LON:JDG) said it doesn’t currently expect the coronavirus outbreak to have a significant impact on 2020 trading, though it added the situation remains under “active review”.

It explained the group operated with an average three-month order book, meaning the current travel restrictions would have only a temporary impact, “deferring rather than reducing revenue”.

Sales from China/Hong Kong were in the order of £9.5mln last year against projected turnover likely to be at least eight times that figure.

The scientific instruments group said only one subsidiary had “significant supply chain exposure” to the People’s Republic.

“With the current scale of the outbreak, and provided it does not last more than three months and remains largely contained within China, it is not expected that there will be a significant impact to the group's 2020 trading,” investors were told.

Judges reports its prelims on March 18.
