Cannabis technology company Cultivar Holdings Inc (CSE:CULT) is preparing for a big 2020 as it gets ready to launch its impairment detection tools for cannabis and alcohol.
The Toronto-based firm took its first step to commercialization earlier in January, debuting its shares on the Canadian Securities Exchange.
Cultivar's PredictMedix is an artificial intelligence-powered technology that uses facial and voice recognition to identify both cannabis and alcohol impairment, one of the first such tools of its kind.

Current technologies in the marketplace address the presence of THC but do not address cannabis impairment, which is a huge unmet need in both workplace and law enforcement, according to Cultivar.
Founder and COO Rahul Kushwash said the time is right for the Toronto-based firm to begin trading on the Canadian Securities Exchange.
“Our journey started two years ago, and now is the right time for us to list on the CSE,” Kushwash told Proactive.
“Cannabis is turning into a commodity, and as more users enter the space, impairment is a huge concern.”
Cultivar’s testing does not require any body fluids or human intervention, which removes human error and the potential for discrimination and prejudice, Kushwash told investors recently. Applications for detecting impairment can range from roadside impairment tests to workplace safety.
The firm recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Hindalco, one of the world’s largest aluminum companies, to explore methods to address drug and alcohol impairment in the workplace. It also has a teaming agreement with India’s Tech Mahindra to act as a channel lead for PredictMedix.
Cultivar is planning to launch an AI-powered detection product for the workplace in 2020.
