Anson Resources achieves first stage of lithium hydroxide monohydrate crystallisation in Paradox tests

Anson is targeting mineral-rich brines in the deepest part of the Paradox Basin near Moab in Utah, USA.

Anson Resources Ltd (ASX:ASN) has completed stage one of a two-stage process to produce lithium hydroxide monohydrate crystallisation utilising brine from the Paradox project in Utah, USA.

Veolia Water Technologies conducted the successful test work using concentrated lithium chloride eluate produced from the Paradox brine.

That company also previously produced lithium carbonate with a purity of 99.9% from the same lithium hydroxide solution.

Once the final stage of the process is completed, the product will be assayed prior to a final report being provided to Anson next month.

Veolia uses an innovative, patented production process involving HPD evaporation and crystallisation technology.

Next steps

With the completion of the test work Anson will be able to design a plant that is capable of producing battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate and lithium carbonate from lithium hydroxide solution, providing product flexibility to meet future market demand changes.

This is in addition to the planned bromine extraction plant that will precede the production of lithium.

The company plans to provide sample product from this test work to potential offtake partners and end users for their consideration.

Data generated throughout the entire flowsheet will be fed into the planned preliminary economic assessment/pre-feasibility study scheduled to begin during the current quarter.
