Virgin Money UK PLC -

Virgin Money UK PLC (LON:VMUK) has begun the search for a new chairman as Jim Pettigrew plans to retire next year.

The bank said the departure of marvelously maned Pettigrew was in line with its succession plans to maintain “good corporate governance practice”.

Dundee-born Pettigrew has been a permanent fixture in the City of London since joining FTSE 100 insurer Sedgwick in 1988, before becoming finance director of ICAP and then Ashmore, then chief executive of CMC Markets between 2007 and 2009.

The curly locked veteran plans to retire by September 2021 when he will have served nine years on the board, having been chair of CYBG before the merger with Virgin Money last year.

The board said it has kicked off a search process to allow time to identify a successor and enable an orderly handover.
