Arafura Resources Ltd (ASX:ARU) and partner Thor Mining PLC (ASX:THR) have received lab assays from the second round of drilling at the Bonya Tungsten Project in the Northern Territory.
Results include 23 metres at 0.58% tungsten oxide from surface at the White Violet deposit and 2 metres at 2.17 tungsten oxide from 78 metres at the Samarkand deposit.
The program totalled 19 holes with 11 drilled at the White Violet and 8 holes drilled at Samarkand for 1,386 metres in total.
Focus on tungsten and copper deposits at Bonya
Thor’s executive chairman Mick Billing said: “The Bonya tungsten deposits are delivering robust results which, we believe can add significantly to the economic life and commercial outcomes of the nearby proposed Molyhil project.
“The Bonya project hosts additional tungsten and copper deposits, and these will be tested in due course, however, our initial focus is likely to remain with the White Violet tungsten deposit, the Samarkand tungsten/copper deposit, and the Bonya copper deposit.
“It is hoped that these can extend the Molyhil project life of mine towards 10 years.”
Bonya could hold significant value
Arafura’s managing director Gavin Lockyer said: “Assays from this latest drilling campaign confirms the potential at both White Violet and Samarkand to host tungsten mineral resources.
“We look forward to delivering the outcome of the resource estimation work in due course.”
