Seeing Machines optimises driver monitoring system for new European guidelines

The firm is also preparing to showcase its DMS technology this week at the CES 2020 consumer technology show in Las Vegas

Seeing Machines Ltd (LON:SEE) says it has optimised its FOVIO driver monitoring system (DMS) to specially address new European requirements on driver drowsiness and distraction detection due to come into force in 2022.

The AIM-listed firm said the new FOVIO variant will be optimised for basic systems that are compliant with the Euro new car assessment program (NCAP), a performance review to evaluate the safety of new vehicles, with the capacity to support more advanced DMS requirements if needed.

“Driver monitoring plays a key role in next-generation NCAP requirements and safe assisted driving”, said Nick DiFiore, the company’s senior vice president of Automotive.

“This is a great outcome as we continue to focus on supporting our customers and partners in the automotive industry with a DMS solution that is sensibly priced, scalable, simple to integrate in relatively short timeframes, and continues to deliver on the Seeing Machines performance promise", he added.

DMS technology to be showcased at electronics show

In another announcement, the firm unveiled plans to showcase its FOVIO DMS technology at the CES 2020 consumer technology show in Las Vegas between 7-10 January.

Seeing Machines will demonstrate the latest software and algorithm developments in DMS technology, while the company’s technology has also been integrated into a number of demonstrations by original equipment manufacturers such as Swedish auto tech firm Veoneer (NYSE:VNE).
