During 2019 the company returned steadily increasing production of lead concentrate, such that, in the first quarter, production was running at 4,712 tonnes, while by the end of the year production had hit 8,160 tonnes. Total lead concentrate production for the year rang in at 24,980 tonnes.
Production of zinc concentrate fluctuated slightly more during the year, but in the final quarter a new record of 4,904 tonnes was hit.
Typically around 70% of the revenue from Hellyer is attributable to lead concentrates.
“Hellyer has seen an excellent December and fourth quarter performance,” said NQ chairman David Lenigas.
“We are particularly pleased with the efforts on site with respect to increasing metal recovery and have seen increased recovery trends in both our lead and zinc circuits continue, with average lead recoveries in December exceeding 50% for the first time. Lead concentrates are the prime source of revenues at Hellyer and the refinements to the lead circuit will continue to be the plant's operational focus in 2020."
