Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) chairman Paul Walsh has given notice that he plans to leave the catering giant by next year at the latest.
Walsh has been at the FTSE 100 company for six years, including overseeing the transition after the death of previous chief executive Richard Cousins.
Walsh will remain as chairman until a successor is appointed, with his intention to stay no longer than the 2021 annual shareholder meeting.
“We have a strong and well-established chief executive in place and I will work to ensure a seamless transition to my successor as chairman.”
Cousins died in a seaplane crash only months before he planned to retire after 11 years in the role.
His replacement, Dominic Blakemore, was promoted from chief operating officer of the company's European division.
