BioLargo Inc (OTCMKTS:BLGO), an environmental engineering company, said Tuesday that third-party lab tests run by Southern Air Solutions Corp (SAS) showed that its patented CupriDyne Clean industrial odor and volatile organic compounds eliminator was effective in eliminating hydrogen sulfide.
Hydrogen sulfide is a colorless chalcogen hydride gas with the characteristic foul odor of rotten eggs. It is a toxic air contaminant found in many industries including oil and gas refining, shipping, wastewater treatment and landfills. It’s highly corrosive and flammable and a leading cause of substance inhalation-related workplace deaths, said the company.
As a result, industries that produce significant concentrations of hydrogen sulfide are required by federal law to implement measures to monitor and reduce the production of the compound.

The Westminster, California, company said the SAS study confirms the “oxidation of hydrogen sulfide gas,” which validates the company’s technology in “real-world experiences with client operations”.
“Hydrogen sulfide is an extremely widespread air contaminant across countless industries, and operators are required to reduce and mitigate it to protect workers,” said Joseph Provenzano, president of Odor-No-More Inc, which is a revenue-spinning subsidiary of BioLargo.
“This study provides scientific evidence to support our field experience, proves CupriDyne Clean is eliminating rather than masking these odors, and is an important validation of our product for industries coping with these issues,” he added.
The Odor-No-More division’s main product is CupriDyne Clean Industrial Odor and VOC Eliminator, which is aimed at the solid waste/landfill/compost, wastewater and oil & gas industries. The product eliminates odor-causing compounds rather than masking them.
“This study and CupriDyne Clean are also a valuable tool to our engineering team, who are proven experts in air quality science and solutions,” said BioLargo CEO Dennis Calvert. “We expect them to play a big role in achieving broad acceptance of CupriDyne Clean as a solution for this enormous air quality control market application.”
In business since 1989, SAS has decades of experience in providing air quality services to the power, petroleum, and chemical industries.
BioLargo has developed several innovative and patented products targeted at three markets: water and wastewater treatment, industrial odor and volatile organic compounds (VOC) elimination, and advanced wound care.
BioLargo operates four subsidiaries: Odor-No-More Inc, BioLargo Water Inc, BioLargo Engineering, Science & Technologies Inc (BLEST), and Clyra Medical Technologies Inc.
Shares recently traded up 4.5% to $0.23 in New York.
