Immotion Group PLC (LON:IMMO) has appointed the former managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to head up its virtual reality (VR) experience creation arm, Immotion Studios.
Ian Hetherington, whose prior experience at Sony included overseeing the launch of the Japanese firm’s PlayStation console in Europe, will replace outgoing creative director Ian Liddell, who is leaving the firm to pursue other opportunities.

Going forward, Hetherington will oversee ongoing work on several immersive VR experiences for National Geographic, as well as the creation of a catalogue of new experiences for the company based on its partner markets.
“Ian [Hetherington] will I am sure add his own dynamism and commercial expertise to the creation of experiences”, said Immotion chief executive Martin Higginson.
“He is currently working on a number of highly engaging experiences, giving our Partner Sales team the perfect product for a number of our existing partners, as well giving us the perfect range of experiences for Zoos, Science Centres and Museums", he added.
Immotion's shares were steady at 6.5p in mid-morning trading on Tuesday.
