VR Education Holdings PLC (LON:VRE) ascended on Wednesday as it unveiled plans to launch its latest showcase experience, physics-based flight simulator Shuttle Commander, on PlayStation on 3 December.
Shuttle Commander will offer users the chance to take control of NASA's Discovery space shuttle in virtual reality (VR) and land it at several real-world sites such as Kennedy Space Centre, White Sands Air Force Base and Edwards Air Force Base.
Players will also be able to experience the launch and deployment of the Hubble Space Telescope in a real-time launch experience using original NASA cockpit audio and mission data, as well as being able to view imagery of the solar system from the telescope during its time in space.
"Following on from our highly popular and award-winning experiences Apollo 11 VR, Titanic VR and 1943: Berlin Blitz, we are delighted to announce the release of our latest showcase title, Shuttle Commander, for PlayStation”, said VRE’s chief executive David Whelan.
The CEO added that the launch of Shuttle Commander will increase the amount of assets and content for ENGAGE, a VR platform that allows users to create their own content for training or educational purposes.
Shares in VRE were 2.5% higher at 8.2p in early trading.
