EnWave inks technology evaluation, license option pact with Pick-One to develop REV snacks in Mexico

Pick-One will pay a monthly evaluation fee and have the non-exclusive option to license REV technology in Mexico for healthy fruit and vegetable snacks

EnWave Corporation (CVE:ENW) (OTCMKTS:NWVCF) said Tuesday that it has signed a technology evaluation and license option agreement (TELOA) with Pick-One SA de CV to evaluate its dehydration technology for developing healthy snacks in Mexico.

In a statement, the Vancouver-based advanced tech company said the TELOA was aimed at EnWave’s Radiant Energy Vacuum (REV) technology being utilized for developing dehydrated fruit and vegetable snacks.

During the term of the TELOA, Pick-One will pay a monthly evaluation fee and have the non-exclusive option to license REV technology in Mexico for a range of snack products, said the company.

Pick-One is a Mexican-owned company committed to the idea of creating healthy snacks and food products by adopting innovative technology processes.

How it works

Radiant Energy Dehydration is a rapid, low temperature drying method that maintains the product’s colour, flavour, and nutrients during the drying process. The company says it is faster and cheaper than freeze drying, with better product quality than air drying or spray drying. EnWave licensed the original REV technology from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 1996, developing it to commercial scale in 2008.

The idea behind REV is the pairing of microwave energy under a vacuum to quickly dehydrate materials. EnWave's patented vacuum-microwave technology allows for uniform drying with flexible moisture content, a benefit as compared to freeze-drying or air-drying.

EnWave holds a robust intellectual property portfolio spanning international markets and has licensed its REV technology to food companies in over 15 countries.
